  • Am I able to save my design and then come back to it?

    To save a design created using the Classic Designer you will have to add the card to the Shopping Cart. Once in the Shopping Cart there is a link at the bottom of the page that says "Continue to Checkout". Now choose your method of payment, enter the shipping address and confirm by clicking on "Continue to Checkout". Your data has been saved. Please note down your order number.

    If you wish to continue editing your order, please log in on our website under "My Orders", entering your email address and your order number. Click on "Continue to checkout". You will now be directed to your shopping cart. There, you may finalize your cards by clicking on "Edit". When finished, proceed with your order.

  • Does my custom design meet the specifications?

    Uploaded files must fill the entire area to the full bleed dimensions. Please view our Guidelines. What you see on the preview is what will be printed. Please view our Most common mistakes on what is considered a correct upload versus an incorrect upload. Keep in mind the preview does not represent the actual size of the card after print.

  • Which possible reasons are there for colour deviation between monitor preview and print product?

    Overnight Prints cannot guarantee that the colour of the print result will look identical to the onscreen preview on the customers monitor, as we are unable to influence any deviation caused by the customers monitor itself or its settings.

    All files should be created, saved and uploaded in CMYK colour mode. It is also possible to upload files in RGB colour mode, but the customer needs to take into account that the necessary conversion to CMYK colour mode before printing can cause certain colours to shift and change. Further information about the colour spaces is available under the link "RGB & CMYK" in our glossary on the right hand side of this page.

    When you upload your files in CMYK colours, we advise using our colour profile to achieve a better colour accuracy. Overnight Prints uses the colour profile "US Sheetfed Coated V2" for coated paper.

    If the print result differs from the preview on your monitor, this is often caused by incorrect settings of the device. Should your images be darker in the print result than the online preview, it is possible that your monitor is set up too bright. In addition, incorrect settings for contrast and colours can also cause differences between monitor preview and print result. Only with a calibrated monitor it is possible to achieve an approximately colour-proof preview matching the print result.

    Further reason for error is the use of RGB colours (only suitable for screen displays) or the use of spot colours (like Pantone, HKS or RAL) and other colour definitions. Printing is done in the smaller CMYK colour space. This colour space offers fewer colour grades for image reproduction. Because of this, RGB colours will lose luminance and saturation when converted to CMYK. The difference between these colour spaces is the type of colour mixture (i.e. how the colours are made up): RGB creates colours in an additive process, CMYK uses a subtractive process.

    Suggestion:

    Calibrate your monitor.
    Convert your files to CMYK-colour mode before uploading them.
    Should you not have access to a calibrated monitor it is usually advisable to brighten files by 15-20%. Please note that this measure does not result in a guarantee for a colour-proof print result.

  • What files do we support?

    We accept files with the following extensions: AI, EPS, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PDF, PNG, PSD, TIFF, TIF or SVG format.

  • Why aren't my fonts viewing correctly?

    Depending on the program you are using, you must ensure all text and images are embeded or outlined. Sometimes a font cannot be embedded. If this happens, it is because of a non-registered font, or a preview only font. You will need to substitute the font if so.

  • What are the file specifications I should design to?

    At Overnight Prints we allow printing to the edge of the products and we take pride in having the tightest cutting margins available. These margins are 1,61mm and are named full-bleed (green line) and safe zone (red line).

    Trim Marks (Blue Line)
    The product will be cut on the trim mark (blue line), however the cut may shift up to 1mm in any direction. Due to this shift Overnight Prints does not recommend borders of any type.

    Full Bleed (Green Line)
    If you wish to have coloured backgrounds or images continue to the edge of the product they must continue past the trim marks to the full bleed margin. If they do not continue to the full bleed margin you most likely will end up with white strips along the edge of the product due to our cutting tolerance.

    Safe Zone (Red Line)
    Text or any other elements you don't want to be trimmed off must be placed within the safe zone. If they are placed directly next to the trim mark and the cutting is off but within tolerance, the text will be chopped off. Due to our cutting process and tolerance we do not recommend borders of any kind. By our policy we are protected to cut 1,61mm outside or inside the Trim Marks.

  • Why is my Illustrator file uploading off center?

    When creating your Illustrator file you must create a white background layer that completely fills the full bleed size of the file. This will prevent the file from cropping to a different file size.

  • What colour profile does OvernightPrints use?

    OvernightPrints uses the CMYK profile "U.S. Sheetfed Coated V2".
